2008 BHSS Foundation Scholarship Winners “Preserving the Legacy, Investing in the Future” is the mission statement of the Black Hills Stock Show Foundation. We were all part of that ideal on the night of January 30th , 2008 as five outstanding high school students were awarded $2000 each. These five remarkable individuals were selected from an elite group of applicants for the Black Hills Stock Show Foundation scholarship program. The scholarship committee reads each application and essay carefully and follows a criteria format to select the winners.
We want to wish each of these young people the best of everything they attempt. As they go forward, we hope the scholarships help them reach the highest of goals and the brightest of ideals. You are all capable of leading the next generation to a new world! Best of luck to all of you!!
The 2008 Black Hills Stock Show 20X Rodeo was a showcase of action and talent! The rodeo was held on January 27, 2008. The Black Hills Stock Show Foundation is a part of the 20X through our scholarship program. We give two $500 scholarships at the 20X each year. The winners are selected from all the seniors in the rodeo. BHSS Foundation is proud to have been a part of this rodeo from its inception. This year the two scholarships are given in memory of Dr. Max Winkler, former member of the BHSS Foundation. His lovely wife, Paige and two daughters handed out the scholarships to the cowgirl and cowboy selected. We are glad to have the opportunity to help Misty McPherson of Sturgis High School and Tyrel Bonnet of Newell High School realize their dreams of attending college. These scholarships will be given the first semester of college. Misty and Tyrel exemplify the many characteristics we admire in the rodeo youth of South Dakota! Good luck to both of you!! |
