2007 BHSS Foundation Scholarship Winners Rapid City, SD – High achievers with agricultural interests are among those selected to receive annual Black Hills Stock Show Foundation scholarship awards. Through membership, sponsorships, memorial endowments and event attendance, people and industry from around the region support the Foundation in its mission of “Preserving the Legacy. Investing in the Future.” For students and their families, Foundation scholarships provide a much needed boost in the overall costs of post secondary education.
Tyler attends Kimball High School. His current GPA is 3.805, ranking seventh out of 25. He is involved in 4-H, FFA, church youth group and numerous community service activities. He participates in track, football, basketball and rodeo. He has enrolled in SDSU in Brookings and is enrolled in the Veterinary Science Program. His parents are Mark Grussing and Donna Knippling.
Katie attends Philip High School. Her current GPA is 4.157. She ranks first out of 33. Among her extracurricular activities are 4-H, FFA, band and choir, rodeo, student council and the German Club. She was also on the National Jr. Honor Society. She has been accepted at SDSU in Brookings and plans to be a teacher. Her parents are Jerry and Mary Nelson.
Blake attends Mitchell High School. His GPA is 3.927. He ranks 20th out of 186. He is involved in 4-H, FFA, rodeo, football, track and church activities to name a few. He is a rotary scholar and a member of the National Honor Society. He has already started his own Hereford Cattle herd. He will be attending SDSU in Brookings with his ultimate goal to obtain an education in livestock production, agronomy and business. His parents are Dennis and Kathi Baade.
Elliot attends Rapid City Central High School. His GPA is 3.821 ranking him 59th out of 438. He has been involved in numerous activities including 4-H, track, wrestling, student council and National Honor Society. He has volunteered for many activities including nursing home care, tutoring in math and science and is the 2006 RCC Homecoming King. He has been accepted to Augustana College in Sioux Falls, majoring in Pre-Med. His parents are Frank and Marcene Bloom.
