CELEBRATING THE BLACK HILLS STOCK SHOW
FOUNDATION WHEREAS, the Black Hills Stock Show Foundation is among organizations that play an important role during the Black Hills Stock Show & Rodeo; WHEREAS, the Rapid City Community and surrounding areas benefit from the enterprise and entertainment of hosting the City’s largest spectator event that attracts up to 300,000 people annually; WHEREAS, the founders of the Black Hills Stock Show & Rodeo envisioned the bringing together of rural and city people in creating good will and an understanding of roles each plays in sustaining a vibrant rural America; WHEREAS, the ideals of early day visionaries are held strong in the continued efforts of the Black Hills Stock Show Foundation to build consensus in, grow awareness of and expand the benefits and services realized from the Black Hills Stock Show & Rodeo; WHEREAS, Rapid City, South Dakota recognizes the important contributions of the Black Hills Stock Show Foundation in all of the above; COMES NOW, Joseph F. and Diane Norman. Who give time and resources to growing services and support to students, families and communities through the Black Hills Stock Show Foundation; Who raise the awareness of the interdependence between Rapid City community and business interests and our rural neighbors through the Black Hills Stock Show Foundation; Who show leadership and vision in fulfilling the Black Hills Stock Show Foundation Mission of “Preserving The Legacy. Investing In The Future.”; NOW, THEREFORE, I, JIM SHAW, MAYOR OF RAPID CITY, and on behalf of RAPID CITY, SOUTH DAKOTA, do hereby proclaim FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 4, 2005, as; JOE AND DIANE NORMAN DAY In RAPID CITY, SOUTH DAKOTA and hereby commend all persons who are committed to and work toward supporting youth in higher education and organizations, programs and projects that enhance services and education to the public.
