See you at The Club......
BHSSF Stockman’s Club Opens To Members and Guests
Rapid City, SD -- Most know it simply as ‘the
Club’.
And for those who want a break from the fast-paced
action that is Stock Show, without having to leave the Rushmore Plaza Civic
Center, the Stockman’s Club is the perfect setting.
Managed by the Black Hills Stock Show Foundation, the
club is available to BHSSF Stockman’s Club members and guests and is also
utilized for business and service organizations as a place for social activities
that often include programs and meals in the adjoining Prime Rib Dining Room.
Located on the upper level of the Civic Center with two
private entrances, the Club and its unique setting is among the benefits the
Foundation offers to its paid members that includes reserved parking passes
convenient to those who want to avoid the long walks into the facility from
other parking areas.
“Here is a setting where people can relax and take a
breather from all the sights and sounds of the many things there are to see and
do during the stock show,” says Diane Norman, Foundation Community Relations
Director. “Many historical items are on display that depict the cowboy
heritage and also a history of the event itself, including a pictorial display
of stock show honorees throughout the years.”
Use of the facility by members is on a as available
basis. Noon luncheons include programs such as “Legal Developments
Affecting Ranching & Farming,” presented by
Gunderson, Palmer, Goodsell & Nelson, on Feb. 3, as well as an annual
Press Appreciation Luncheon hosted by the Foundation in appreciation to area
media that helps to promote the Foundation’s fundraising programs year round.
Also included in this year’s Club schedule are
activities with the SD Stockgrowers Assn., the Black Hills Angus Association,
the Foundation’s Cowboy Classic Golf Tournament, U.S. Marshall’s
Posse, and Kreekside Kareoke.
“We’re especially
excited to welcome the Days of 76 Rodeo Committee to the Club on Sat., January
31st,” says Norman. “Committee members have been instrumental in the
development of this year’s BHSSF original commemorative print, titled “Days
of 76: Spirits of Deadwood,” that depicts early day organizers and
characters of the historical Days of 76 event in Deadwood.” Commissioned
from Belle Fourche artist Mick Harrison, the original and the first of only 25
prints produced, is offered at auction to raise money for scholarship programs.
The Club and dining area are not direct fundraisers for
the Foundation but as a concession for the Civic Center, Larry Dell, food
service director and other staff, “really roll up their sleeves to welcome
people as special guests and members of the Foundation,” relates Norman.
“And they make every effort to keep menu selections and prices at a steady
level without compromising service and quality.”
The Club is open from Fri., January 30 through Sun.,
February 8. Watch for daily postings of menu’s, programs and events and
Club / Dining Room open and close times.
