BHSS Foundation Purchases 45th Anniversary Commemorative Winchester
Rapid City, SD -- Working hand in hand with stock show organizers to help
commemorate the 45th anniversary of the Black Hills Stock Show and Rodeo, the
Black Hills Stock Show Foundation has purchased the proof gun of a limited
edition commemorative firearm of which only 10 are being manufactured.
“The legacy of the firearm in the Old West is well known,” says
Foundation President Joe Norman, Piedmont. “This particular piece celebrates
that as well as 45 years of the industry that has built this event to what it is
today...that being cattlemen and cowboys.”

Butt Stock & Forend Wood
The Foundation’s history of providing financial support for the Black Hills
Stock Show & Rodeo is made possible in part through supporting and becoming
involved in promoting increasing awareness for all things Stock Show. “Whether
it’s marking 45 years of commercial and seedstock producers coming to this
event or 26 years of the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center and Sutton Rodeos
envisioning what the future could hold by bringing the show into the Civic
Center, there’s plenty of accomplishments to go around,” says Norman.
"People with a common vision, working together has resulted in an event
recognized around the country for its quality of livestock, top level
professional rodeo and a unique mix of other attractions that brings upwards of
300,000 visitors to our part of the world. It's a privilege to be a part of
that."
Planned as a fundraiser for the Foundation, tickets will be sold on the
single proof gun, an engraved and gold plated Winchester 94 rifle. Images for
the engraving depicts various scenes from Stock Show as well as the official
45th anniversary logo, according to Mark Smith, project manager for A & A
Engraving that has been producing collector and commemorative firearms for over
25 years.

“The images will be engraved and finished with 24 kt. gold, antique gold,
shiny nickel with a black background, making this a truly spectacular collector
firearm. The Winchester 94 was chosen as the “canvas” because of its easily
recognizable style, one that is identified with the Old West,” notes Smith.
Included with each of the 10 numbered rifles also being offered for sale is a
certificate of authenticity and custom French fit case.
“We’re hoping to raise a good amount for the Foundation’s scholarship
programs with this project,” says Norman. “At the same time, the 10
remaining limited edition rifles are truly collector’s items where a portion
of the proceeds will benefit the Black Hills Stock Show & Rodeo. That’s a
winning combination.”
